The “A. Riberi” Military Hospital under renovation is a vast complex built between 1906 and 1913.
The central section of the construction is a series of pavilions arranged in a comb-like pattern located around a horseshoe-shaped glass wall gallery, which blends in perfectly with the entire complex.
The pavilions rise to several floors above ground and overlook vast open areas planted with a variety of trees, in some cases majestic.
The connecting passageway, supported by thin columns that allow an unobstructed view, enables all the connected areas to be used as a single space, and also has a fundamental function in the renovation plan for its use as a Media Village.
In fact, the plan provides for the renovation of the area allocated as a village for journalists in order to provide accommodation facilities for 1,007 people with the amenities of a three-star hotel.
The renovation of the pavilions, in addition to improving the surrounding environment, includes excavation and moving of earth that, by lowering the height of the buildings, creates an improved architectural solution and, by modifying the internal pathways, allows the disabled better access and movement.
Finally, two pavilions will be restored to centralize existing hospital and logistics services, enabling a more organised use of the areas for the armed forces.
