The aim of the intervention is to divert the heavy traffic transiting on the SS 89 in the section between Saluzzo and Pinerolo outside the town of Osasco to:

• Reduce the pressure of urban, industrial and commercial activity on the present route of national road 589
• Modify the carriageway to new traffic requirements
• Improve inflow into the main avenues of communication
• Ensure functional access to the Olympic area and to the flyover crossing of Pinerolo

The result of the planned interventions will consist in the construction of a section of the artery with characteristics responding to the current functional and geometric standards for the construction of roads and, at the same time, compatible with the objectives of environmental quality expected for the structures concerned. The general aspect of the area where the traffic lane is located and the configuration of the physical and morphological characteristics present in the sector directly concerned have influenced the search for planning solutions and routes, so that most of the interventions are restricted both in terms of location and types of road materials. For these reasons, the optimisation of the plan is carried out by adopting specific stratagems, aimed at improving the functionality of the junction or the quality of its inclusion in the surrounding landscape, both through the execution of additional interventions for the purpose of resolving local problems of integration of the new road with the current and future urban plan or, more generally, for increased usability of the area served. The plan envisages the following interventions:

• Osasco external alternative route to the SS 589 to be carried out in the territory located southeast of the town according to a layout composed of 2 lanes with a length respectively of about 620m and 1280m.
• A roundabout with an internal radius of 15.75m near the Battitori Municipal Road entering the new alternative route of the SS 589 north of Osasco
• An overpass along the Bergere Municipal Road
• An underpass along the Vicinale di Bussonrondo road
• An entry roundabout of the alternative route to the SS 589 between the entry to via Viassa and via Vignone.
