The work specifically concerns the connecting ring road between the roads at the Pinerolo - Porte and the Upper Chisone Valley junction. The interventions for the alternative route will upgrade the existing road network and reduce pollution in the town centres of Villar Perosa, Pinasca and Inverso Pinasca over weekends and during the winter periods when tourists flock to the ski facilities in the upper valley. In detail, six roundabouts will be built near the intersections with the secondary roads and two viaducts for alternative routes to the existing towns.
San Germano Chisone Roundabout
A roundabout towards the San Germano Chisone bridge is planned with an internal radius of 7.25 m with a single central lane of (4,50+1,50) m, sufficient to get vehicle traffic moving regularly now and in the future.
Villar Perosa Roundabout
The need to bypass the town of Villar Perosa and divert the main direction of traffic towards the new roads determined the need to build a new roundabout with several entries A two-way link road (8.50m wide) is planned parallel to the S.S. 23 with an internal radius of 12 m and the creation of two internal lanes of 3.75 m plus external lateral shoulder.
Grange Viaduct
The Grange Viaduct has a length of 880m and is built with circular pillars and a central distance between of 40m determined by the proximity and course of the Chisone stream. The height of the viaduct is 4/5m under the beam allowing the passage of farm machinery. The structure is planned with a floor frame in mixed steel and concrete section built with steel beams with a length of 2.50m and a central distance between of 3.725 m with slabs in reinforced concrete with a thickness of 30 cm. Overall width of the floor frame is 15.00m of which 10.50m is passable.
Inverso Pinasca Viaduct
It winds along the right bank of the Chisone stream and crosses the stream itself with a span of 60.00m reaching the raised area of the access of the Perosa Argentina roundabout. It extends for a total of 1,839 linear metres. The height of the viaduct has a dimension that varies between 5.00 and 7.00m with respect to ground level. The viaduct is designed once again with circular pillars and a mixed steel/concrete structure as for the Grange viaduct.
Perosa Argentina Roundabout
It constitutes the end of the alternative route of the S.S. 23 and marks the start of the town of Perosa Argentina. The geometrical dimensions include an internal radius of 9.25m and the creation of two internal lanes of 3.75m plus a lateral external shoulder, maintaining the geometry of the main transit road.
